Tourism Start-up Programme (KwaZulu-Natal North)

The Tourism Start-up Programme supports start-up and early-stage tourism businesses in KwaZulu-Natal North that are ready to establish themselves within the tourism industry through practical enterprise support, structured development, and opportunities for sustainable long-term business growth.

  • Design thinking and Business Model Canvas development
  • Financial literacy and compliance guidance
  • Digital and AI enablement, including tablet support
  • Tourism-specific skills facilitation where applicable
  • Marketing development support
  • Pitch preparation and exposure opportunities
  • Structured support to strengthen local economies and job creation

This call relates specifically to the approved KZN North allocation covering:

  • iSimangaliso Wetland Park Node
  • Hluhluwe and surrounding communities
  • St Lucia / Dukuduku Corridor
  • Broader Northern KZN Cultural and Eco-Tourism Belt

  • South African citizens
  • At least 51% South African Black-owned businesses
  • Businesses operating or intending to operate in the tourism and hospitality value chain
  • Early-stage entrepreneurs, start-ups, or informal businesses
  • Businesses trading for at least 1 year or at idea stage with clear tourism potential
  • Applicants located within or near the specified tourism nodes

Priority will be given to youth and women entrepreneurs.

  • Programme duration: 6 months
  • Virtual information session available for interested applicants

  • RSVP deadline: 17 April 2026
  • Application closing date: Friday, 30 April 2026

Applicants must be willing to formalise their business through CIPC registration and compliance if not yet registered. All personal information will be handled in accordance with the Protection of Personal Information Act.
